Düsseldorf/Munich, 30 November 2022 – VGP NV (“VGP” or “the company”), a European provider of high-quality logistics and commercial real estate, handed over the keys to KraussMaffei at VGP Park Munich. This marks the beginning of a new era for the long-established Munich-based company.
KraussMaffei has leased exactly 211,500 square meters in VGP’s most important park to date, which will provide space for up to 2,500 employees. The part of the park rented by KraussMaffei includes three production halls, a main administration building, four office and social buildings, a multi-store car park, a canteen, a cafeteria, and an approximately 15,000-square-metre Customer Experience Centre.
The park is located to the north of the Parsdorf motorway interchange on the A94, close to the city centre and only 30 minutes by car from Munich Airport. The region is a centre for business, agriculture, industry, trade, and education. The new park offers tailor-made solutions for the KraussMaffei Group. KraussMaffei will be home to a wide range of jobs in production, logistics and administration.
In line with the VGP sustainability strategy, the park is planned to the latest standards: It accommodates one of the largest rooftop photovoltaic systems in Europe with a capacity of 12.5 megawatts. In addition, a biotope is being created next to the KraussMaffei site as a compensatory area. This will help to significantly improve the habitat for animals as well as insects and birds and increase the comfort for employees on the footpaths through the biotope.
In addition, care was taken in the planning of the park to integrate natural areas into the project. Thus, in addition to green strips and the greening of the façades, the multi-store parking garages are also greened. In addition, electric charging stations for e-cars are planned. The VGP Park Munich has energy-efficient hall heating with LED lighting and groundwater heat pumps. These measures contribute to achieving the requirements of a DGNB Gold certification for VGP Park Munich.
Jan Van Geet, CEO of the VGP Group, emphasizes: “We are very pleased to be providing KraussMaffei with our technical expertise to help them realize their vision. The project in Parsdorf is the third major joint project, along with Einbeck and Laatzen, in which KraussMaffei is relying on VGP’s expertise. It makes us proud to be part of the largest investment and renewal program in the history of this traditional company.”
The CEO of KraussMaffei, Dr. Michael Ruf, classifies the significance of the new location strategy as follows: “Our move to Parsdorf marks the beginning of a new era for KraussMaffei. We are shaping a modern, innovative company that will take on the challenges of the 21st century and master them with excellence. With the new locations, we are laying the foundation for another 184 successful years.”
