At VGP, sustainability is more than a promise – it’s a principle built into every one of our parks. Through our dedicated unit, VGP Renewable Energy, we are driving the energy transition by embedding clean energy solutions into the core of our developments and supporting our clients on efficient energy management.

Across Europe, we invest, own and operate photovoltaic systems to power our parks and reduce the carbon footprint of our tenants. With a current installed and planned capacity of 264.9 megawatts peak and a goal to reach 300 megawatts, we are creating a greener real estate landscape.

Renewable Energy

VGP Renewable Energy offers a broad array of renewable energy solutions for warehouses, including solar, wind and thermal, as well as integrators for storage and distribution.

We offer green energy to our tenants, produced on site or off site, with our own photovoltaic systems. This is provided via lease or Power Purchase Agreements. The regulated utility status of VGP Renewable Energy in Germany allows us to offer tailor-made solutions to our tenants.

Next to this, we provide green e-mobility charge facilities for electric trucks and cars, while also exploring the possibilities for hydrogen powered vehicles.

We currently explore qualitative methods for energy storage with battery installation and load management.

Furthermore, we support our tenants to identify green energy usage optimization and flexible energy consumption with energy control methods for divers processes to optimize the photovoltaic consumption potential.

Every business is different – and so are its energy needs. That’s why we offer tailor-made green energy concepts that fit the specific operations of our tenants. Whether it’s rooftop or ground-mounted solar, wind or thermal energy, we deliver solutions that are practical, efficient and scalable. Our systems can be operated directly by VGP or through power purchase agreements, ensuring flexibility and transparency.

We aim to offer our clients a tailormade green energy solution, which is typically offered with photovoltaic systems at our VGP Parks, yet also with the ability to offer green energy which is sourced elsewhere, with green power generation assets near our parks. We are exploring partnerships with local green energy producers and ways of sourcing local tailored opportunities to provide off-site supply where needed, adapted to local tenant energy needs. Our goal is to create energy ecosystems around our parks that respond to regional potential and client-specific demand. 

 

Energy Storage, Load Management and Intelligent Infrastructure

 

To ensure energy efficiency beyond production, we invest in cutting-edge storage and distribution technologies. Our solutions include battery storage systems and intelligent load management that help tenants optimize consumption patterns and reduce peak usage costs.

These technologies allow for better use of self-generated solar power and improve overall energy reliability. Whether it’s managing multiple buildings or individual units, our smart infrastructure supports operations with real-time data and seamless integration into facility management systems. 

Green Mobility and Future-Ready Logistics

 

Modern logistics relies on mobility – and mobility is becoming electric. At VGP, we are preparing for the future of transport by integrating e-mobility infrastructure across our parks. This includes charging stations for electric trucks and cars, with ongoing studies into the use of hydrogen-powered vehicles.

By offering these services directly within our parks, we enable our tenants to make sustainable choices not only in their buildings but across their supply chains. Combined with our renewable energy capabilities, we support companies in reducing emissions throughout their entire logistics operation. 

Case: VGP Park Magdeburg

At VGP Park Magdeburg, we have one of Germany’s largest solar systems on one roof, with a capactiy of 10.26 MWp. The entire energy generated in the whole park adds up to 26.11 MWp.

Case: VGP Park München

At VGP Park München, we have a total amount of more than 26,000 solar panels, which generate a total of 11.5 MWp. The majority of this solar energy capacity is used for the self consumption of our tenant KraussMaffei. Next to the photovoltaic systems, the park has many other eco-efficient features.
