29 October 2026, Berlin/Düsseldorf: VGP, a European owner, manager and developer of high-quality logistics and light industrial real estate and a provider of renewable energy solutions, today officially handed over the new access road at VGP Park Berlin-Bernau to the City of Bernau. Daniel Sigmann, Managing Director of VGP Germany, attended on behalf of the company, and Mayor André Stahl represented the City of Bernau. The completion of the road, built and financed by VGP, marks another milestone in the development of the site.
The new road, around 900 metres long, extends Potsdamer Straße through the VGP Park to Helmut-Schmidt-Allee. It connects the park’s three buildings to the public road network. All the utility lines needed to run the park have been laid beneath the pavement, and the neighbouring plots have also been connected to the infrastructure. The new road improves access to the A11 motorway and the Schönow business park, and is also expected to reduce traffic in the surrounding area.
As part of the project, Helmut-Schmidt-Allee was also upgraded to handle heavier traffic loads and brought up to load class Bk 10. The NovoCrete® process was used to stabilise the soil on site. The works were originally scheduled to take three months but were completed within six weeks during the summer holidays.
Speaking at the handover, Mayor André Stahl said: “Considering that the groundbreaking was only around a year and a half ago, the pace here has been truly remarkable. The commercial space created here is an enormous gain for Bernau as a business location. The completion of the new access road, which was finished even faster than planned, is a fitting part of what has been a thoroughly positive project. The new connection now noticeably eases traffic and makes the journey easier both for delivery traffic and for the people who work here.”
Three buildings with flexible space
On the 141,160 m² site in Bernau near Berlin, VGP has developed around 70,000 m² of lettable space for industrial, logistics and commercial businesses. Up to 500 jobs can be created at the site. The three sustainable buildings offer high-quality units from 1,500 m², as well as larger spaces for logistics and light industrial companies. These spaces can be tailored to each company’s individual requirements.
Building A, with 23,824 m², and the 19,000 m² Building B are already completed and fully let. The interior fit-out of Building C is currently being completed. Tenants include the textile company CNB, tyre wholesaler Best4Tires, tyre storage centre 4 Wheels, building materials wholesaler Bär & Ollenroth and logistics service provider DSP Services GmbH.
High energy and sustainability standards
Sustainability and energy efficiency are a high priority in VGP parks. Rooftop solar PV systems and heat pumps help supply the parks with energy. Smart metering systems record electricity consumption digitally. Electric vehicle charging stations are available on site.
To support the local microclimate and biodiversity, green roofs, green facades and ecological compensation areas have been created. The buildings in Bernau meet the environmental objectives of the EU Taxonomy Regulation and achieve at least the DGNB Gold sustainability standard.
Attractive location and connections
VGP Park Berlin-Bernau, in the north-east of Berlin, is VGP’s fourth park in the Berlin region, alongside VGP Park Berlin-Ludwigsfelde, VGP Park Berlin-Oberkrämer and VGP Park Berlin-Wustermark. It has a direct connection to the A11 motorway and is around 8 km from the A10 (Berlin Ring). Berlin city centre can be reached in 35 minutes by car or train.
The VGP Group has 45 locations in Germany and is active in 18 European countries. The family-owned company is headquartered in Antwerp, Belgium, and operates more than 140 parks across Europe.
