Linz/Ohlsdorf, 29 September 2023 – The planned Ehrenfeld business park in Ohlsdorf has now received the green light from both the municipality of Ohlsdorf and the Federal Administrative Court: “The outstanding points have now been clarified with the current decisions. This means that the conditions are in place for us to start developing and building the new business park in a timely manner,” explains Markus Gollob, Country Manager VGP Austria. “A modern business park with optimal transport connections is a valuable impulse for the region and the entire province,” emphasises Markus Achleitner, Regional Minister for Economic Affairs, to whom Gollob presented the project.

“Close cooperation with the municipalities and the clarification of all open questions is an absolute priority in every one of our projects,” Gollob emphasises. VGP is investing a double-digit million amount in the new business park, which covers around 80,000 m2. With production, storage areas, offices and a multi-storey car park, between 400 and 500 jobs will be created with this project. According to Gollob, the customer structure will be broad-based. “We have already signed the first contract and have many local, regional and international interested parties,” explains the VGP Austria Country Manager.

Municipal council and administrative court set the course

In summer, the project was discussed in detail at a meeting of the Ohlsdorf municipal council. In the course of the meeting, the municipal council then gave the green light to the planned business park by cancelling the previously decreed “new planning area”. The decision of the Federal Administrative Court was equally positive: After a thorough examination, it was stated that the procedure was correct and that no further EIA procedure was necessary for the construction of the business park.

Green building with PV, biotope and green facade

The Ehrenfeld Business Park is designed as a “green building”. A corresponding concept was developed together with the municipality. A PV system on the roof is planned for the property, a heat pump is planned, the buildings will have a green façade in front, pond biotopes will be created and a generous greening with native trees and woody plants on the site. In addition, deadwood hedges will be built to provide a natural habitat for plants, insects, small animals and birds.

Optimal location for business park due to direct motorway connection

“From my point of view, the Ehrenfeld Business Park is an optimal location for the establishment of businesses – especially because of the direct connection to the Westautobahn. In addition, it is an extension of the already existing Ehrenfeld I business development area with the corresponding transport infrastructure. It is gratifying that the company has decided to construct the business park in a sustainable manner as a ‘green building’. This business park will further strengthen the region and Upper Austria as a business location,” emphasises Landesrat Achleitner.
