Paack
When Paack set the pace in green deliveries, we responded with space built for the future.
In Madrid’s logistics ring, we delivered a high-speed cross-dock for mail carrier Paack’s last-mile ambitions. The 11,500 m² warehouse and office facility in VGP Park San Fernando de Henares powers their deliveries across Europe. Equipped for speed, sustainability, and smart automation, the space is designed to move parcels as efficiently as data.
Challenge
Adapting every detail for an automated future
Transforming a logistics warehouse into a highly automated last-mile complex meant re-engineering the structure comprehensively. To support robotic sortation and future-proofed growth, we reduced pillars to a single central one, optimised electrical resilience, and achieved super-flat floors along DIN 18202 standards. Dock operations had to function across three façades with varied access for trucks, vans, and reverse logistics.
At the same time, preparations for 90 EV chargers and the integration of mezzanine levels demanded precise coordination. Finally, the high degree of automation required seamless adaptation of the building to handle up to 270 robots working simultaneously. Accordingly, we had to install robotics, CCTV, and data systems on top of the existing web of complex systems.
VGP's Response
Leading Europe in last-mile automation and green delivery
The completed facility now forms the backbone of Paack’s last-mile activities in Spain. Its super-flat floors and pillar-free spans enable autonomous carriers and cross-dock operations to perform at maximum efficiency. As well, the two-level system combines robotic sortation above with robot-assisted cage handling below. Capable of processing up to 12,000 parcels per hour and more than 200 delivery routes, the site is one of Europe’s most automated last-mile hubs.
Supporting Paack’s zero-CO2 policy, it is equipped with rooftop solar power, infrastructure for 90 electric chargers, and biodiversity measures. Together, these features align operational speed with environmental responsibility, preparing Paack for the future of urban logistics.
