Macron
When Macron needed a campus, we built a winning team.
Located in Valsamoggia, Bologna, Macron’s new headquarters and logistics hub benefits from its home-field advantage. On 6,700 m² of modern office space with a 16,105 m² warehouse, the new site plays a key role in the sportswear company’s game. Situated near major transport arteries, the new campus equips Macron to perform at its best while staying firmly rooted in its Emilia-Romagna heritage.
Challenge
Reconciling performance with responsibility
Macron’s new site had to be built for the long game, reconciling the acceleration of consumer demands with sustainability concerns. Therefore, efficient distribution and supply chain management were infused with their purpose of serving human comfort as well as environmental sustainability. Our solution thus had to support good relationships not just with Macron’s customers and business partners. Importantly, it also emphasised the importance of listening to local stakeholder demands.
VGP's Response
One for all, all for one
Powered by state-of-the-art technology, Macron’s facility is designed to meet the demands posed by its natural environment as well as the market. Therefore it covers a diverse range of uses. Apart from exhibiting official kits, other products and their related technologies, there are also showrooms for the different types of products Macron has to offer. Modern, open office spaces entail 20 meeting rooms and a photo shooting area. For recreation, we provided our tenant with spaces to install a dining area and two corporate gyms for its employees. Importantly, the site hosts a distribution centre able to handle 80,000 units per day. Its automatic packing line takes care of the 13m+ units sold per year. With its maximum storage capacity of 160,000 boxes and 3,000 pallets, it provides Macron with the perfect foundations for continuing its ambitious growth trajectory.
And all for one greener future
As evidenced by its BREEAM sustainability certification, it delivers net benefits to the people and the planet. Several measures enabled achieving this distinction. Among them are rooftop solar panels fuelling 40 charging stations for electrical vehicles. They are surrounded by 150 trees and 3,200 m² of bushes and other vegetation, and finally, 15,000 m² of grass. Between these areas, we protect biodiversity with bee houses. Underlying these extensive green areas, a rainwater collection system and underground storage tanks ensure sustainable irrigation through reusing 9,000 m³ of water per year.
