Drylock

LOGO DRY

When diaper producer Drylock needed more space, we nurtured their ambition.

Covering 116,000 m², Drylock’s flagship production site in Hrádek nad Nisou provides a strong infrastructure for soft products. On top of that, its power plant soaking up solar energy on 28,000 m² enables the firm to walk its first steps towards self-sufficient production.

Challenge

Building with care: for children and the planet

Drylock’s growth required space that could flex with its production needs while supporting complex upgrades from underground tunnels to full facility conversions. Balancing high-volume hygiene production with stringent environmental targets meant designing a site where logistics, utilities, and ecosystems could function in harmony.

In particular, the challenge was to build halls combining high operational and cost efficiency with meeting the demands of design and functional parameters regarding environmental impact. As the site manufactures children’s hygiene products, this had to be delivered on the backdrop of specific and strict requirements for the production halls.

VGP's Response

Uniting solar, sound, and social solutions

Once it was home and dry, the facility embodied Drylock on every layer. VGP Park Hrádek nad Nisou today comprises five halls with more than 122,000 m² of total lettable area, all tailor-made for the requirements of Drylock’s use. On top of that, VGP has contributed to local infrastructure. In addition to a sidewalk endowed with fruit trees and efficient public lighting, we provided the area with a new sewage system.

Sustainability concerns were guiding the construction on every level, from the underground conveyor tunnel utilizing waste heat to its rooftop photovoltaic system. Further, a rainwater tank, beehives, and an insect hotel blend the site neatly into its environment. We also addressed the issue of sound pollution by creating a sound barrier reducing noise emissions towards Oldřichov na Hranicích. As well, a fully fitted public rest area was created for local communities.
