VGP officially launches construction of new business park in Parsdorf

Düsseldorf, October 09, 2019 – VGP, a leading European provider of high-quality logistics and commercial real estate is developing a new business park for the BMW Group and the KraussMaffei Group in Parsdorf (Municipality of Vaterstetten) near Munich. Construction work began on the October 8, 2019. Georg Reitsberger, First Mayor of Vaterstetten, Gerhard Vitzthum, chief project manager for the BMW Group and Georg Kast from the local Department of Economic Development broke first ground together with Jan van Geet, CEO of VGP.

The property will include a new supply hub for the BMW Research and Innovation Centre. As of August 2020, the company will move in. The business park will also become home to the new headquarters of the long-established KraussMaffei Group from mid-2022 onwards.

The project is one of the largest in the history of VGP. It covers an area of over 60 hectares and will include 267,558 square meters of rentable space upon completion.

Jan van Geet emphasized in his speech to over 100 invited guests: “Today represents a major milestone in the history of our company”. “The fact that we are here today shows us that it is possible to put a vision into action, to make something that seemed impossible come true and to bring it to a happy end,” says the company’s founder and CEO, thanking the project managers and all those involved.

Only 30 minutes by car from Munich’s city centre and Airport, the park is located north of the Parsdorf junction on the A 94 motorway in a region of economic importance for agriculture, industry and trade.

The project will also stand out through its technical excellence. “The park will contain the largest photovoltaic system ever installed on a building in Europe. A total output of 12.5 MWp will be generated here,” Jan van Geet explained in his speech. The integration of green roofs, electric charging stations for cars and trucks, energy-efficient hall heating systems and groundwater heat pumps will also save a total of 6,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

The new VGP Park Munich will accommodate up to 2,000 employees and offer a wide range of jobs in production, logistics and administration. The project will be managed by the VGP Park Munich GmbH, with total investment amounting to more than EUR 500 million.

The completion of the business park is scheduled for 2026.
