19 May 2025, Berlin/Düsseldorf: VGP, a European owner, operator and developer of high-quality logistics and light industrial properties and a provider of renewable energy solutions, is developing the new VGP Park Berlin-Bernau on an area of 141,160 m². On Thursday morning, the ground-breaking ceremony for the first building took place in Bernau near Berlin in the presence of Jan Van Geet, CEO of VGP, Darius Scheible and Daniel Sigmann, Managing Directors of VGP Germany, as well as André Stahl, Mayor of Bernau.

Around 70,000 m² of high-quality rental space for industrial, logistics and commercial purposes is being built on the site in Bernau near Berlin, which will create up to 500 jobs. A total of three sustainable halls are planned, offering flexible and high-quality units from 1,500 m² as well as larger areas for logistics and light industrial companies. These spaces can be individually adapted to the requirements of the companies - even after construction has begun.

"As Mayor of Bernau, I am delighted about the expansion of the business park in the Schönow district to include this component. Every additional settlement and realignment makes Bernau more attractive as a business location. Of course, I hope that as many Bernau residents as possible will find a job close to home there," says Bernau's mayor André Stahl.

"The development of the VGP Park Berlin-Bernau is a strong signal for the economic dynamism of our region. With the creation of new jobs and the focus on sustainable construction, a future-oriented business park is being created here that will further advance the Barnim region," says Daniel Kurth, District Administrator of the Barnim district.

“With VGP Park Berlin-Bernau, we are realizing another forward-looking project in the capital region that offers flexible, high-quality space for industrial and logistics companies,” says Darius Scheible, Managing Director of VGP Germany. "Our many years of technical expertise and our focus on sustainable construction and renewable energies are being put to optimum use here. We look forward to the successful implementation of this project."

First construction phase fully let

The first construction phase with Hall A covers an area of 23,824 m² and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. It has already been fully let to the textile company CNB and the tire wholesaler best4tires. The second construction phase with Hall B and an area of approx. 19,000 m² also already has its first tenant: BerVaTek Vertriebsgesellschaft will use around 5,000 m² in future. Completion is planned for early 2026.

Attractive location with optimal connections

The new VGP Park Berlin-Bernau in the north-east of Berlin is the fourth VGP Park in Berlin alongside VGP Park Berlin-Ludwigsfelde, VGP Park Berlin-Oberkrämer and VGP Park Berlin-Wustermark. It has a direct connection to the A11 and is only 8 km from the A10 (Berliner Ring). Berlin city center can be reached within 35 minutes by car or train.

High energy and sustainability standards

Sustainability and energy efficiency are a high priority at the VGP parks. It is planned that the new buildings in Bernau will also meet the defined environmental targets of the EU Taxonomy Regulation. They will also be built to at least the recognized DGNB Gold sustainability standard.

Rooftop PV systems and heat pumps will provide sustainable energy. Smart metering systems record electricity consumption digitally. Charging stations for electric vehicles are available for future employees. Green roofs, façade greening and ecological compensation areas are planned to promote the microclimate and biodiversity.

The VGP Group is represented at 40 locations in Germany and is active in 18 European countries. The family-owned company is headquartered in Antwerp, Belgium, and operates a total of 112 parks throughout Europe.
