VGP Launches New Rooftop Photovoltaic Power Plant at Faiveley Transport Facility in VGP Park Pilsen

23rd October 2024, Prague: VGP, the owner, manager, and developer of semi-industrial and logistics real estate, continues to install rooftop photovoltaic power stations on buildings in its existing portfolio. Recently, VGP completed its second such installation on the roof of the Faiveley Transport Czech facility in the suburbs of this West Bohemian city. An 800 kWp photovoltaic power plant was commissioned at VGP Park Pilsen. The plant was connected to the public distribution network in September.

Sustainability and energy self-sufficiency of the developing portfolio are among VGP’s main goals. As part of this latest project, 1,739 solar panels were installed. The electricity generated will be consumed directly on-site and will cover approximately 20% of Faiveley Transport Czech’s overall annual consumption. The company is focused on the development and production of electric traction devices, pantographs, and trolleybus collectors. It has been located in VGP Park Pilsen since 2015, operating in a 27,000 m2 production area. From an environmental perspective, 397 tonnes of CO2 emissions will be saved annually, corresponding to the equivalent of 18,239 newly planted trees.

VGP Park Pilsen is situated on approximately 10 hectares of land in the Bručná industrial zone, close to the E49 road with a connection to the D5 motorway and near the Olympia Pilsen shopping and entertainment centre. The location has excellent connections to neighbouring Germany and is easily accessible by public transport from the centre of Pilsen. The site, with capacity of almost 50,000 m2 of lettable space suitable for light manufacturing, logistics, and accompanying commercial activities is today fully occupied. In addition to Faiveley Transport Czech, its current tenants include major companies and employers from the entire Pilsen region, such as DHL Express, Verhoek Europe, Assa Abloy ES Production, Crown Lift Trucks, Excell Czech, and Copo Téxtil Portugal.
