International industrial real estate company VGP acquires plots in Køge - opening the door to new types of businesses
With the sale of three large commercial areas in Køge North to VGP Denmark, Køge Municipality takes an important step towards a more diverse business development. The investment realizes the municipality's ambition to attract modern manufacturing and technology companies. The city council approved the sale at June's city council meeting.
A significant sale of commercial land in Køge marks a milestone in the municipality's business policy. VGP Denmark, the Danish branch of the European owner, manager and developer of high-quality logistics and industrial properties, has purchased three areas in the area south of Egedesvej totaling almost 12.2 hectares. The plan is to construct commercial buildings for modern production companies within technology, pharmaceutical production, robotics and sustainable food production for example.
The sale supports Køge Municipality's political ambition to develop a new type of business in the municipality. While the focus has previously been on transportation and logistics, this sale opens up for companies with a different profile - e.g. manufacturing businesses with offices, showrooms and warehouses all in one solution, and there is also the opportunity for larger manufacturing companies. VGP Denmark plans to build partially without having tenants on hand, making it possible for smaller companies to move in and grow according to their needs.
- We have long wanted a more diverse business community in Køge. With the sale to VGP Denmark, we are realizing our ambition to create space for modern production and technology companies. This is an important step towards a new business profile that will benefit both citizens and companies, says Mayor Marie Stærke.
VGP's proposal for the development of the area, which currently consists of fields, includes several green initiatives to enhance local biodiversity.
