Construction works on the MOBIS Spain battery assembly plant at VGP Park Pamplona Noáin continue on schedule
- Pan-European logistics and semi-industrial real estate company VGP is finalising earth works and starting assembly of building structure
- MOBIS obtains the necessary environmental authorisations, to be able to start activity in the plant
Noáin (Pamplona, Navarra)/Barcelona, 5 August 2024 - The VGP Group, a European provider of high quality logistics and semi-industrial real estate, continues construction work on the MOBIS Spain battery assembly plant at VGP Park Pamplona Noáin.
Specifically, VGP completed the site acquisition, preparation, site clearance and earthworks, and is currently finalising the foundation works, all of which were carried out under a first building permit for preliminary works. Now, thanks to the obtaining of the final building permit, VGP is starting the assembly of the building structure, which is expected to be completed in the first half of 2025. In addition, MOBIS has obtained the necessary environmental authorisations, which will allow it to start operations at the plant.
The project has the firm support of the Government of Navarra, through its public companies Sodena and Nasuvinsa, and responds to the strategic objective of locating the entire electric vehicle production value chain in the Ciudad del Transporte, in the vicinity of Pamplona. Also noteworthy is the close collaboration and support of Noáin Town Council, whose contribution has been fundamental to the development of VGP Park Pamplona Noáin.
Features of VGP Park Pamplona Noáin
VGP Park Pamplona Noáin is located in the municipality of Noáin, 10 km from Pamplona, the capital of Navarra, and will house a high quality, sustainable and energy efficient battery assembly plant for MOBIS Spain Electrified Powertrain S.L.U., part of Hyundai Mobis, the global mobility solutions provider based in South Korea.
With a built-up area of 50,000 square metres on a site of 147,700 square metres, VGP Park Pamplona's first industrial building will be used for the assembly of high-voltage (HV) battery cells for an electric vehicle platform.
VGP Park Pamplona Noáin will have modules dedicated to the storage of materials, assembly, production warehouses, as well as spaces for services and offices. It will also include advanced robotisation and logistics technologies and will benefit from the highest environmental and quality certifications.
The project will strengthen the socio-economic landscape of the region. In addition, the assembly of car batteries at the plant will not only boost local logistics and industry, but also sustainable mobility throughout the country.
Like ongoing projects in other VGP parks in Europe, such as those in Germany, Croatia and Romania - where VGP is developing the infrastructure and environment necessary to foster technology investments - this project is indicative of the growing wave of industrial investments in Europe. Particularly notable is the interest generated by industries related to sustainable mobility and energy transition, which mark a fundamental shift towards a more sustainable future.
As in all VGP's logistics and industrial projects, VGP Park Pamplona Noáin will meet the Group's high quality standards and will be sustainable and energy efficient. The building will be developed aiming for BREEAM Excellent certification.
