The investment and property group VGP has concluded a new long-term lease agreement with Amazon for its industrial park Frankenthal located in the Rhineland-Palatinate region (Germany). The e-commerce company will rent a fulfilment centre covering approximately 60,000 m² of warehouse and ancillary office space that is exclusively developed by VGP. Once completed, the facility will be one of the most modern high-tech fulfilment centres in Europe.

Amazon to create over 1,000 jobs

Hand-over of keys and opening of the fulfilment centre is planned for late 2017. Amazon will create over 1,000 new permanent full-time jobs in the first year of operations. In addition to the logistics’ space, VGP will also build offices and an extra car park with 1,200 parking spaces for employees on the 17-hectare-large logistics and industrial park of Frankenthal. With this new project, Amazon is another example of how e-commerce companies become more and more the driving force of growth in the logistics sector and another important e-commerce tenant for VGP in the German market, in addition to VGP’s other e-commerce clients in its completed portfolio.

The VGP Park Frankenthal is located at motorway junction Ludwigshafen, in the near vicinity of Frankenthal and Ludwigshafen.

FIA Pro Team s.r.o., a leading producer of painting supplies, signed a lease contract for 2,400 m2 of warehouse and production spaces and 353 m2 of administrative space in VGP Park Český Újezd. From January 2017, the newly constructed hall will serve as FIA ProTeam’s second manufacturing plant in the Czech Republic, where the company plans to produce moltopren and flock painting and varnishing rollers.

FIA ProTeam s.r.o. is part of the multinational Storch-Ciret Group which joins companies all over the world working in the development, production, and sale of painting tools. FIA ProTeam s.r.o.is focused mainly on manufacturing of painting rollers, protective plastic films, and masking tapes.

  • Profit for the period of € 42.7 million (+ € 10.5 million compared to 30 June 2015)
  • 18.6% increase of committed annualised rental income to € 45.0 million[1] (+ € 7.0 million compared to 31 December 2015)

  • The signed committed lease agreements represent a total of 865,855 m² [2] of lettable area with the weighted average term of the committed leases standing at 7.4 years as at the end of June 2016 (7.5 years as at 31 December 2015)

  • In addition 17 projects under construction representing 384,612 m² of future lettable area
  • 597,000 m² of new development land plots acquired and 600,000 m² new land plots under option to support the development pipeline and which are expected to be acquired during the second half of 2016
  • Net valuation gain on the investment portfolio reaches € 65.1 million (against € 48.1 million at the end of June 2015)
  • Establishment of a 50/50 joint venture (VGP European Logistics) with Allianz Real Estate and acquisition by the joint venture of the initial seed portfolio consisting of 15 parks from VGP for a transaction value in excess of € 500 million
  • During the second half of the year there are a number of large transactions in the pipeline, which, if successfully completed, will have a significant positive impact on the annualised rental income and the weighted average term of the committed leases

  • Rieck logistics group will move into modern storehouse in VGP Park Hamburg
  • VGP Park Soltau: Construction works for Audi logistics centre make good progress

Düsseldorf, 14 July 2016 – The European project developer VGP has its excavators digging again. Two new VGP industrial parks emerge until 2017, one in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg near Mainz and one in Soltau in the state Niedersachsen. In addition, VGP builds a new hall in the existing VGP Park Hamburg. All the parks are situated in great locations. Important trading centres like the Hamburg harbour can be easily reached via the direct access to the highway. VGP develops the VGP Park Soltau by order of Audi; the park is located between Hamburg and Hanover with direct access to the highway A7. The industrial park Ginsheim-Gustavsburg serves as ideal industry location in 20 km distance from Frankfurt airport and offering access to the highways 60 and 671. VGP develops and manages 12 parks in total in Germany.

First tenant in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg

VGP signed the first rental contract for the site in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg with a total space of approximately 65,000 m². iNDAT, a producer of customized robotic systems and robotic cells, is renting 4,800 m² industrial space and 1,200 m² office space. Most likely, they will be able to move in by April 2017. iNDAT currently employs more than 100 employees and has locations in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg and Wolfsburg. High demand also exists for the other spaces of the future VGP Park. The earth works will start in August. The VGP Park, which the project developer had only bought in early 2016 thanks to the arrangement by immolox, will offer 32,000 m² rental spaces in total for semi-industrial production, logistics and trade.

More than 23,000 m² new building for the Rieck logistics group in the VGP Park Hamburg

The Rieck logistics group moves with their business unit contract logistics (Rieck Projekt Kontrakt Logistik /RPKL) from Hamburg-Billbrook into the VGP Park Hamburg in Rade, 20 km south of the harbour.

The construction works have already started for the hall- and office complex with a total space of 23,700 m². The relocation of the logistics company will take place in several steps between February and May 2017. Key factor for the relocation in the VGP Park Hamburg was the convenient access to harbour and outback, the growth of the current storage (approx. 6,000 m²) at the former location and the modern equipment of the hall, e.g. access to the wireless network in the entire hall. The new logistics hall of 23,100 m² in space will offer room for 35,000-40,000 pallets. The other 600 m² will be used as office space by Rieck.

VGP Park Soltau: Shell gets in shape

The earthworks for the new VGP Park in Soltau started in early May. In addition, the construction works for an industrial hall of 45,000 m² in space with adjacent office spaces of 1,700 m² make great progress. VGP develops a logistics centre for the Volkswagen subsidiary Audi on the site, which has a total space of 12 hectares. The site is located in the industrial area Soltau-Ost III offering direct access to the A7. Audi will rent the hall on a long-term base. They will use it as logistics centre, which will be specialized on the export of vehicle parts and components. Hand-over of keys is expected to take place in late 2016.
